Initiated, funded and co-created by the European Commission, EU TalentOn is a brainstorming event happening in the European City of Science Katowice 2024. EU TalentOn was launched as a part of the 2022 Europen Year of Youth.

EU TalentOn is a competition

EU TalentOn is a competition for young researchers representing all disciplines of science, aged between 21 and 35.


5 mission Arenas

EU TalentOn is a programme addressed to researchers who are willing to bring modern ideas into one of the five missions of the European Union, including: adaptation to climate change, cancer prevention and cancer patient care, ocean and water restoration, smart cities and transition towards healthy soils.



The best teams will be awarded in three areas:
  • Grand Prize of €12,000 for the best project in all Mission Arenas awarded by the Grand Jury
  • First prize of €7,500 per Mission Arena
  • Second prize of €4,500 per Mission Arena
  • Audience Prize of €3,000

Each prize will be divided equally among each person in the winning team.

  • May 21 – June 12, 2024 – I Application evaluation process
  • June 17 – July 7, 2024 – II Open call for applicants
  • July 8-26, 2024 – II Application evaluation process and selection of participants
  • August 2024 – Teaming of participants and within-team online meeting
  • September 9-14, 2024 – The contest finale in Katowice


The EU TalentOn call for proposals starts in April, 2024. There are three stages of evaluation:

  • Internal evaluation
  • Peer evaluation
  • Expert evaluation

The chosen participants will be divided into teams that will challenge the five mission areas of Horizon Europe.

The EU TalentOn Finale will be held between 9 and 14 September, 2024 in Katowice.
